This blog came to fruition thanks to my sister and her love to take hilarious walks down memory lane! We had been talking about the things we love, mainly FOOD and Family. We were thinking about all of the love and hard work we put in for the ones we love; and how that often translates into the food we cook.

What is so special about food? There is something about it that can evoke such strong and wonderful memories. I remember as a child how I would look forward to going out and shoveling the snow because I knew that Grandma Joanie would have a cup of hot chocolate in a mug with either a few marshmallows or a good dollop of cool whip on top. When I think about those memories I can literally smell the cocoa in my mind.
Food can often be found in some of life’s most beautiful, hilarious and not-your- best moments in life. I remember as a child sitting at the table with my sister being particularly unhappy about that nights dinner: Turkey Smoked Sausage and Baked Beans. The baked beans were delightful…. smoked turkey sausage not so much…. This prompted my sister and I to just kind of stare at our plates and push it around until we got the “You’re not leaving the table until you finish your food” lecture. Well my sister got the idea to throw a few beans and one landed on my Grandma’s chair. Letha and I thought this was HILARIOUS, Grandma not so much….. Thus “WHO PUT THE BEAN IN THE CHAIR?” became one of my sister and I’s favorite memories, and we still laugh to this day whenever we tell the story. This is the inspiration behind the name of this website.

This website is not meant to be serious, I am not a professional cook or even trained in any culinary anything, heck I literally just mastered the art of mincing Garlic at 35! I also don’t professionally write or blog stories…..So if you are looking for chef inspired 5 star meal recipes or professionally written memoirs please move onto the next…..What this website is meant to do is make the reader (hopefully smile) while reading some good stories and trying some classic recipes handed down from Grandma as well as some that family members obsess about.
This also will have the random non food related rantings and ravings as well…. after all I am a newish Momma to two incredibly charismatic little boys. They make the world go round in my eyes!
